FAQs
What types of projects do you specialize in?
Our specialty is upscale interior remodeling.
Are a contractor’s references really that important?
Absolutely! A contractor with a consistent history of delivering high quality jobs on time and a long list of satisfied customers will give you the reassurance that you will need to know that you are putting your trust in the hands of a true professional.
Do you get a lot of repeat customers or recommendations?
Every day! 100% of our business comes from repeat clients and recommendations. We pride ourselves on this fact. At BIG Renovations & Design we strive to produce an end result for our customer that surpasses all expectations.
I have some general remodeling ideas; can you help me establish which ideas will work best for my situation?
Yes. You can also go to the contact us page and email us with information that you would like to have completed. When our team member meets with you, they will discuss all of the options that might be available and help to guide you for what will work best for your situation. We also have our own in-house interior designers that can help you to visualize the scope of the project.
How can I be sure that BIG Renovations & Design will complete the project as it was agreed upon while keeping the standard of quality high?
You will have access to real time updates with our software program Co-Construct, which will allow you to be up to date on progress and selections for your project.
How much should my remodeling project cost?
It all starts with the design plan. Our talented designers will work with you on your plans and material selections and from this process we can create a detailed budget.
How much money down does a remodeler/contractor typically ask for to start a job?
The average deposit is 10% of the estimated total for the project, and then progress billings from there.
Will I be able to request or change things during the project?
Yes, if the modifications fit within the scope of the project, a modified quotation is created and when the customer and BIG Renovations & Design agree, the project can easily move in that direction.

What if during construction I change my mind concerning a project’s feature?
We have a systematic approach to handling changes that will let you know the cost of a change and the effect that the change will have on your project’s schedule. Every change to your project will require your signature ensuring that you will not be surprised with charges at the end of the project.
Can you work within my budget?
Absolutely! Early in the process we will work with you to establish a budget you are comfortable with and will work closely with you to build a project that fits that stated goal.
How long should a remodeling take?
This is a great question and can be divided into three phases. Pre-Construction is the first phase which includes the design process, planning and permitting, which can take 1-2 months. Construction is the second phase and can last up to four months. The third and final phase consists of a client walk through, closing out all of the permits and receiving a certificate of occupancy from the county.
What about work schedules and household access by workers during the job?
This will vary with the type and scope of work being done. We will work with you to establish a plan that is agreeable to you and minimizes disruptions of your ongoing household activities, as well as coordinating the schedule while you are away.
Do I need to be home while people are working on my house?
We enjoy having our clients around, however you don’t have to be. All of our personnel will respect your home as if it was their own.
Do you get the necessary building permits?
Yes, we take all of the worry out of remodeling. We take care of the permit as well as all of the construction drawings needed.
Is your remodeling business insured?
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured for your protection.
Will the project site be cleaned up after remodeling?
Yes. We pride ourselves in maintaining a clean and well-organized project site throughout the construction phase.
Will you build my project if I already have an architect?
Yes. We’ll communicate with your architect or interior designer throughout the project to make sure we are covering the details exactly as they have envisioned them.
Can you meet a deadline?
With our on-site Project Manager we are able to maintain tight control of the details and scheduling of your project. We will create a project schedule so you’ll know when we will be finished and what to expect from day to the next.
Can I see examples of your work?
Yes. Our online portfolio has project photos and with prior notice we can arrange a visit to either a project under construction or a previously completed project.
Why I should remodel my home?
Location is everything. If you like your current location, and it meets all your needs – then using that as a base – you can modernize, increase your family’s comfort, and improve your home’s energy efficiency. By practicing these principles you increase your home’s value, and reduce long-term maintenance needs.
When is the best time to remodel?
When features are outdated, it is time to remodel. When you realize that you are still living in the past, it is time to remodel. If you need more space or your appliances are not up to par, it’s time. Your floor plan just isn’t working for you or you know you need new windows or insulation for energy efficiency. Your family size has increased or decreased.
